This weekend's Art in the Garden to exhibit lush visuals 9/8/2010

The third annual Art in the Garden exhibit and sale is scheduled Sept. 10-12 at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden’s Deborah Beggs Moncrief Garden Center, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd. Art in the Garden is a part of the Cultural District’s Gallery Night.

Lake Worth Monster Bash celebrates legendary beast 9/8/2010

Forty-one years ago, Fort Worth was abuzz with reported sightings of the Lake Worth Monster — described as a hairy, scaly 7-foot-tall man-goat-beast. Though sightings of the creature haven’t occurred regularly since the summer of 1969, the annual Lake Worth Monster Bash keeps alive the local legend and its habitat. The 2010 celebration is scheduled 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Oct. 2 at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, 9601 Fossil Ridge Road.

Wedgwood Library closed Sept. 20-Oct. 17 for upgrades 9/8/2010

The library is scheduled to reopen Monday, Oct. 18, with an improved layout.

Free Mulch 9/8/2010

Wood chip mulch and screened composted mulch are available free of charge to Fort Worth residents. Mulch can be obtained from the parking lot at Rolling Hills Park, between the soccer fields and Rolling Hills Tree Farm at 2525 Joe B. Rushing Road.

Hazard Abatement 9/8/2010

The Forestry Section will prune or remove City-owned trees that pose an unacceptable risk to people or property. Forestry may also prune privately-owned trees that could endanger the public; for example, a broken tree branch that blocks a City sidewalk.

The Forestry Section operates its own 71-acre tree farm in southeast Fort Worth.
