Feb. 16 meeting to discuss utility tampering, theft

Council turns down aviation exhibit funding plan

Council voted down a plan that would have allowed the city to accept the assets of the Fort Worth Air and Space Museum Foundation’s Traveling Aviation Exhibit and establish a service agreement with the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to maintain and market the exhibit contents.

Plan Commission recommends Comprehensive Plan adoption; Council hearing set

The City Plan Commission has voted to recommend adopting the updated 2012 Comprehensive Plan. Next, City Council will conduct a public hearing in February before voting to adopt the plan later that month.

Workforce Solutions honors eSkills Library and Job Center

Last year, Workforce Solutions partnered with the city to open the first eSkills Library and Job Center, in the former Meadowbrook Branch Library, 2800 Stark St. The new facility continues to operate as a library, but with a new emphasis on providing job-related services and materials.

Meacham onramp to northbound I-35W closed for construction

The onramp to northbound I-35W, just north of Meacham Boulevard is closed with plans to reopen a temporary ramp in a few months. This closure is part of the North Tarrant Express project and is the next step in building direct connectors for new managed toll lanes from I-35W to Loop 820.

Fort Worth Flashback: Central Fire Station

A modern Central Fire Station was constructed in 1899 at the corner of Throckmorton and Eighth streets. It had three wagon bays, sleeping quarters upstairs, a bell tower and a 40-foot lookout tower allowing firefighters to watch for smoke anywhere in town.
